Blaine picks up on the first ring. He is holding his breath, Kurt knows. So is he. So when Kurt is finally able to say something (that something being “Blaine,” a syllable shattered and cracked all along its edges) it comes out sharp and breathless.
“Hang on,” Blaine says, low and warm in his ear. “I’m coming. I’m coming. I love you Kurt, I love you so much.”
The line goes dead.
Kurt drops his phone and considers the sound of it hitting the floor from thousands of miles away.
